Game 1 – Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ Atlanta Falcons, Monday December 11th, 5am
Quarterback Desmond Ridder is clearly struggling for the Falcons with just two touchdown passes and two picks in his last three games. Both teams have players in doubt, but the Buccaneers have more depth in key positions and their quarterback Baker Mayfield is getting the job done, throwing for over 200 yards in his last three games.
Game 2 – Los Angeles Rams @ Baltimore Ravens, Monday December 11th, 5am
Matthew Stafford may be in the veteran class, but he is still doing a great job steering the Rams around the park as they chase their fourth straight win. But this will probably be their biggest challenge of the month, with the Ravens renowned for upsetting NFC teams at home. Their quarterback Lamar Jackson is also in fine form with four TD passes in his last three games and I see him leading the Ravens to a narrow win.
Game 3 – Detroit Lions @ Chicago Bears, Monday December 11th, 5am
The Lions beat the Bears in Detroit just three weeks ago by five points and this game shapes as another close encounter. The Bears have the home field advantage this time, but the Lions have shown this season that they are more than comfortable playing on the road. Their rushing effectiveness and defensive intensity are suited to playing anywhere and they looked good in a 33-28 win against the New Orleans Saints last weekend. The Bears are coming off a bye and picking a winner is a real challenge here.
Game 4 – Jacksonville Jaguars @ Cleveland Browns, Monday December 11th, 5am
The Jaguars suffered a shock loss at home when raging hot favourites against the Bengals on Monday night. Worse still, they lost quarterback Trevor Lawrence during the loss, and he isn’t expected to be fit for this game. His back-up C.J. Beathard is competent but could struggle against a Browns defence renowned for giving away few points at home. With veteran Joe Flacco also a back-up for the Browns, I don’t see many points in this one and tip a narrow Browns win at home.
Game 5 – Philadelphia Eagles @ Dallas Cowboys, Monday December 11th, 12.20pm
The Eagles are still licking their wounds after their pass defence got torn to pieces by the 49ers last weekend. San Francisco piled on 42 points - and could easily have broken the half century so plenty of adjustments need to be made in Philly this week. The Cowboys lost when these teams met last month but at home, they are undefeated this season and since that game, they have won four straight.
