Best Bet - 12. Duchess Of Gossip ($2.75) - Belmont, Race 7
I’m very keen on DUCHESS OF GOSSIP here. She’s been moving through the grades since getting the maiden out of the way and I expect her to come up a bit closer to $2.00 than the price she is. Can handle soft, can handle dry, she’s versatile, and whilst the wide gate might seem like a hassle, I think the inside might be a bit chewed up after Wednesday and another six races already on Saturday so swooping down the outside for the Wizard of the West Willy Pike looks the go here.
Next Best - 2. Chorlton Lane ($2.30) - Rosehill, Race 7
CHORLTON LANE won like a good horse on Australian debut and looks like he’s well and truly got the edge over the handicapper at this point in time. They’ll keep moving through the grades with him and a BM72 looks a soft kill to win some Saturday grade prize money. The extra distance will suit.
Value Bet - 7. Nicolini Vito ($11 / $3.20) - Caulfield, Race 8
NICCOLINI VITO has raced 3 times at Caulfield for a win and 2nd placing, and with the forecast set to suit his conditions I think he’s decent value. I don’t think the inside ground by Race 8 will be the ideal place to be and with Ollie booked and back out to a nice trip over 1400m, he could shock. The placing behind Group 1 winner Mariamia reads well.
