Best Bet - 4. Kyvalley Hotspur ($2.65) - Geelong, Race 5
This former top youngster lost his way for a period of time, but it looks like trainer Brent Lilley has him right back on song.
A 2021 Victoria Trotters Derby winner, Kyvalley Hotspur has always had the ability and now looks to have recaptured the type of form that should see him very hard to beat in tonight's Trotters Cup.
He was a dominant winner of his most recent start at Melton on October 6 when he darted home in slick closing sectionals and comes up with a front row draw here in a standing start event where many of his key rivals have handicaps.
I'm hopeful he steps well and rolls straight to the front, and from there he'll take a power of beating!
Next Best - 9. Mona Mia ($2.45) - Geelong, Race 7
It was hard not to be impressed with this girl's effort at Melton last weekend and she strikes a very winnable race at Geelong this evening.
Mona Mia sat back in the field and came with a big finale to grab fourth behind leader/winner Operative Line, carving out an impressive 55.01sec last half mile while wide on the track.
There looks to be some early speed on paper in this event and I'm hopeful her big finishing burst will be good enough to outgun her rivals in the home straight!
Value Bet - 5. Precious Belle ($16 / $3.60) - Geelong, Race 1
In a race where we have a short-priced favourite in Fighter Command, there looks to be some value around Taylor Ford's four-year-old mare Precious Belle.
She was buried away in traffic last time out at Geelong, but charged to the line in eye-catching fashion and looks a handy each-way play here in a race lacking depth.
I'll be playing something the win, but more the place and hoping it's a profitable start to the night!
