Best Bet - 9. Sweet Agenda ($2.30) - Swan Hill, Race 6
Really like Sweet Agenda here. She was a brave fifth in a fast-run race against talented boys Oliver Dan and Louie Lou I last time at Melton, and before that won in dominant fashion at Mildura running good time. Think she's got the measure of this lot and happy to back her at better than even money. Keen runs well.
Next Best - 7. Im Shadow Boxer ($7.50 / $2.35) - Swan Hill, Race 7
I've got a feeling this awkward barrier draw of seven might not end up being that bad for Im Shadow Boxer, who is really going well and can certainly win this race with the right trip.
He was beaten narrowly by Tic Tact (reopposes tonight) three starts ago at this track, but I reckon he can turn the tables with a good run in transit in what shapes as a really even contest between a few leading chances. At the price, Im Shadow Boxer looks a knockout each-way play.
Value Bet - 11. Well Said Nugget ($9.00 / $2.95) - Swan Hill, Race 1
A little surprised with the price of this bloke, who appears a nice each-way bet to open the card at Swan Hill. Kate Hargreaves' gelding contested the Vicbred Super Series heats two starts ago at Ballarat and acquitted himself admirably in a race won by top New Zealander The Real Sherlock. While he was well beaten, Well Said Nugget held his ground for sixth in a personal last half of 55.6sec.
He was a touch disappointing last time out at Shepparton – hitting the front at the turn before fading into fifth – but I'm happy to trust his previous form against good opposition and back him at the juicy odds this evening.
