Best Bet - 3. Bulletproof Boy ($1.75) - Melton, Race 4
Made Hot Deal in race one my best through the course of the week, but he's very, very short now so I'm leaning towards Bulletproof Boy as our standout wager of the evening.
He's a genuine fast class star who is getting better with age and thrashed a field featuring Outlaw Man, Triple Eight and La Captain last week.
It's hard to see those horses overturning the result here and I'm confident Scott Ewen's brilliant veteran will be recording his 38th career win tonight.
Next Best - 10. Magnetic Terror ($2.80) - Melton, Race 6
Magnetic Terror won a heat of this series in brilliant style last week, overcoming a tough run to prevail in dominant fashion.
The race time and closing sections were marginally better than the other heat winner Vee Em Gee Macray, who was able to find the front and dash home to score.
Vee Em Gee Macray might have to do it tougher tonight from gate seven and I think Andy Gath's five-year-old can come with one late run to score.
Value Bet - 2. Naked Ambition ($13 / $3.10) - Melton, Race 7
This girl is absolutely banging the door down to win a race and probably should have prevailed in her last two.
She galloped when about to run to the lead at Bendigo two starts ago on November 24 and was held up badly before flashing late to just miss at Melton seven days ago.
This is not an easy assignment, but Naked Ambition draws well, and we get good odds about a horse that I think can win with the right trip in transit.
