Best Bet - 1. Timmy Rictor ($1.90) - Bendigo, Race 8
While he carries a great name, that's not the reason I'm very keen on Timmy's chances tonight in the second of the Breeders Crown Series heats for two-year-old colts and geldings.
There's long been a big spruik on this horse and all three of his career starts have been superb, including a runner-up placing in the Group 1 Bathurst Gold Crown Final when he flashed home from last.
He draws well and should be able to dictate terms in a race that's unlikely to see too much pressure given it's a qualifier for a rich final in a couple of weeks' time.
Next Best - 7. Bandit Eyes ($1.65) - Bendigo, Race 9
He's very short, but it's really hard to see how his rivals beat him based off the effort here on October 31.
Bandit Eyes was first-up for new trainer Wayne Gretgrix when he demolished his opposition in a heat of this series last week, with that qualifier run in quicker time than the other.
Despite a sticky gate seven draw, he should prove much too good once again.
Value Bet - 8. Pinnacle Hope ($10 / $2.70) - Bendigo, Race 10
Taking a chance here with the Pinnacle Hope, who was an eye-catching runner with a race-fastest last half mile in his heat last week and draws for a soft trip on the pegs in tonight's final.
I’m hopeful he's no further back than three back along the pegs, and with some pressure in the race, he can finish too strongly for his rivals in the sprint to the line.
He looks a good play on the each-way, perhaps heavier the place than the win.
