Very nice win when coming straight to town for his debut. Couldn’t cross the red before the first turn from the middle draw at start number two, then got run off on the home bend when working back into the race strongly. Should fare better in running from a good draw. Looks very hard to beat.
Next Best - 7. Hector Frawley ($2.30) - Sandown, Race 5
Got absolutely poleaxed first time out of the straight last start. Picked himself up and worked through the field strongly. Looked home on the line but somehow missed in the photo. Huge run. Steps out to 595m. Put two wins together over the 600m at The Meadows recently and has a good winning record over 595m at Sandown. Can atone.
Value Bet - 6. Mrs. Avenger - Sandown, Race 8
The Group 1 Bold Trease final. Showed too much dash crossing to lead and never giving anything else a look in last start at huge odds. They’ve bet a price again here. She just copped a bump at a vital stage her only other start over the staying trip. She could be a revelation. Definitely worth an each-way ticket at the price on the back of last week’s effort.
