Game 1 – Richmond Tigers vs Sydney Swans, Thursday 6th July, 7.20pm
Thursday night will witness a must win clash between the Tigers and the Swans, as both teams' finals aspirations hang in the balance. Following a heavy defeat at the Gabba, the Tigers are desperate to rebound and salvage their season.
The Swans, on the other hand, squandered plenty of opportunities due to inaccuracy but managed to escape with a draw. With the spotlight shining brightly on this crucial encounter, there will be nowhere to hide for either team. Expect a fiercely contested battle as both sides leave no stone unturned in their quest for a crucial win.

Game 2 – Western Bulldogs vs Collingwood Magpies, Friday 7th July, 7.50pm
Friday night under the lights promises a thrilling encounter as the Bulldogs take on the ladder-leading Pies. The Pies have established themselves as the team to beat, perched comfortably on top of the ladder. Meanwhile, the Bulldogs are eager to continue their winning streak and make a push for a coveted top-four position.
This clash serves as a significant test for the Bulldogs, who are hungry for a major scalp. It's going to be a fast-paced showdown at Marvel Stadium, where both teams will unleash their attacking prowess. Be prepared for a shootout as these two sides go all-out attack.

Game 3 – Brisbane Lions vs West Coast Eagles, Saturday 8th July, 1.45pm
Saturday afternoon at the Gabba sets the stage for what looks to be a one-sided clash between the Lions and the struggling Eagles. Fresh off a dominant 80-point victory against a finals contender, the Lions will be brimming with confidence on their home turf.
Meanwhile, the Eagles, despite their lowly position on the ladder, showed resilience by nearly snatching a win after a demoralizing 150-point defeat the week prior. Expect the Lions to have another big victory, while the Eagles will be determined to at least put up a fight.

Game 4 – Greater Western Sydney Giants vs Hawthorn Hawks, Saturday 8th July, 4.35pm
Saturday afternoon special, the Giants lock horns with the Hawks in a crucial battle for the Giants finals aspirations. They enter the match on the back of a hard-fought victory against Melbourne, solidifying their position as one of the form teams in the competition over the last month.
In contrast, the Hawks were left stunned by a slow start that saw them score a mere 5 points by halftime against the Blues. With their finals hopes on the line, it's a must-win scenario for the Giants as they look to keep their finals dreams alive. Expect a better effort from the Hawks but sustaining it for four quarters has been the issue all year.

Game 5 – St Kilda Saints vs Melbourne Demons, Saturday 8th July, 7.25pm
Saturday evening delivers a clash between two teams with their premiership and finals credentials under big scrutiny. Both the Saints and Demons have faced questions regarding their consistency and performance in recent weeks and weather they are genuine contenders.
The Demons let slip four crucial points against the Giants in the top end, while the Saints narrowly avoided a shock defeat at the hands of the bottom-placed Eagles. This game may not silence the doubters but a win for either will do them the world of good.

Game 6 – Port Adelaide Power vs Gold Coast Suns, Saturday 8th July, 7.40pm
Saturday night promises an intriguing clash between two teams at opposite ends of the spectrum in terms of form and progress. The Power have been a force to be reckoned with, showcasing exceptional consistency with 12 consecutive victories. Their ability to secure a win last week in nail-biting fashion, shows confidence is sky high.
Meanwhile, the Suns find themselves in a frustrating position, failing to make significant strides towards a top-eight finish in recent years. With calls for change at the top getting louder, the Suns face a daunting challenge against the formidable Power.

Game 7 – Geelong Cats vs North Melbourne Kangaroos, Sunday 9th July, 1.10pm
Sunday afternoon presents a fairly bland clash between the Cats and the Kangas, with the Cats in search of much-needed momentum and consistency. They have yet to hit their stride in the 2023 season, struggling to find rhythm in their performances. While they salvaged a draw last week, their overall form leaves room for improvement.
The Kangaroos have struggled to string together four solid quarters and getting all their players to perform at an acceptable level. I expect the Cats to win but perhaps it won't be the most aesthetically pleasing spectacle.

Game 8 – Essendon Bombers vs Adelaide Crows, Sunday 9th July, 3.20pm
Sunday afternoon brings us a highly anticipated matchup between the Bombers and the Crows, arguably the standout game of the round. Both teams have exceeded expectations this season, positioning themselves on the verge of finals contention, a significant achievement after their recent struggles.
With elite midfields and a well-balanced blend of youth and experience, this clash promises to be a captivating display of skill and determination. Football fans can expect an enthralling contest between two emerging forces with only one to take the chocolates.

Game 9 – Fremantle Dockers vs Carlton Blues, Sunday 9th July, 4.40pm
In what can only be described as a do-or-die encounter, the Dockers take on the Blues at Optus stadium. Both teams are well aware that a loss in this pivotal clash would severely dent their hopes of a finals campaign, while a victory offers only a glimmer of certainty.
The Dockers, bolstered by their home ground advantage, present a formidable challenge, despite the absence of their former captain due to a season-ending injury. The Blues, on the other hand, will be praying for the return of their ruck stars to counter the dominant pairing of Darcy and Jackson. Expect a fierce battle as these teams fight tooth and nail for a crucial victory.
