Best Bet - 2. Zardozi ($2.90) - Flemington, Race 8
We are shocked this girl didn’t absolutely bolt in on Derby Day last weekend. She went down by the absolute barest of margins. However, considering the track bias on the day, she was phenomenal to finish where she did. We think JMac will ride her a touch more proactive this time around to make sure the leaders don’t skip away from her this time. She just wins!
Next Best - 1. Spacewalk ($3.70) - Flemington, Race 5
One of the better Stakes grade sprinters in the country in our humble opinion. We feel he’ll never quite be Group 1 level, but this Group 2, Group 3 level, that’s his go for sure. Won really well on Derby Day and can back up here, especially with JMac jumping on his back. He almost never runs a bad race, and he won’t be starting on Thursday!
Value Bet - 11. Rick’s Café ($14 / $4.20) - Flemington, Race 3
We usually follow this girl like a hawk at the weekday meetings, so we are surprised to see her lining up on an Oaks Day, but she deserves the jump in class. Lightly raced 8YO that is just super genuine. What you see is what you get, she will most likely tuck in amongst the pack before making a charge to the line late. Craig Williams on board is a massive plus as well! Go each-way here and hope for the best.
