Best Bet - 5. Tamerlane ($4.00) - Flemington, Race 10
You’ll have to wait until the very end of the day to get on the best bet for this card as I think Tamerlane is one of the better bets around the country this Saturday. He didn't really do anything wrong first up just peaked on the run because he wasn't fit enough.
He will be fitter for that run and gets an upgrade in jockey here with Damian Lane going aboard. Not to mention, in his last start he only finished a couple lengths off Rediener, who came out and won the Epsom Handicap last week, if that isn’t A Grade form, I don’t know what is.
Next Best - 1. Romantic Warrior ($2.20) - Flemington, Race 8
Romantic Warrior is the boom Hong Kong horse, usually I don’t love backing international horses first up, but he seems to be the real deal. He was a running mate of Golden Sixty, who is the best horse in the world mind you.
He also beat Dubai Honour pretty comfortably, which is a horse who absolutely dominated the best horses we had to offer throughout the Autumn Carnival. So, I think it is impossible to be against him in this one, despite the fact it is a very open race. His form lines point to a dominant performance from the Hong Kong boy.
Value Bet - 15. Future History ($10 / $3.30) - Flemington, Race 7
Yes, the favourite will be hard to beat you would think, but the market has overlooked Future History here. Just an honest type of horse that you know will put every effort into getting his nose in front come the finish time.
Craig Williams is flying right now and the horses he hops on are just running for him and that is a strong quality to have as a jockey, especially when hopping on a horse for the first time which he does here. Can dictate the pace of the race and go all the way with it.
