2023 Queensland Oaks Day Preview

Horse racing tips incoming! Dabble’s very own Dean Watling has broken down the card at Eagle Farm this Saturday, which includes the $700K Group 1, the Queensland Oaks. They’ve done all the hard work for you finding the best horse racing tips, so you don’t even have to lift a finger – how nice is that?!

Without further ado, see Dean Watling’s best bet, next best and value bet for the card at Eagle Farm:

Best Bet - 2. Affaire A Suivre ($4.60) - Race 8, Group 1 Queensland Oaks

I am keen to be with the Maher and Eustace trained Affaire A Suivre, she is a last-start Group 1 Australasians Oaks winner, with that win having a lot more merit in it than the eye suggested. She has been given a freshen with a lovely tick-over trial at Hawkesbury.

She lines up in a Group 1 Queensland Oaks which lacks any real tempo, with her tactical versatility she will likely settle forward of midfield on a day where it looks hard to make ground. The 2200m looks no issue and jockey John Allen stays in the saddle.

Next Best - 2. Prince Of Boom ($3.70) - Race 7, Group 2 Moreton Cup

Robert Heathcoat has Prince Of Boom in career-best form. He was a smart first up winner beating Rothfire and has since put together three consistent performances. I am happy to forgive his last start effort in the Group 1 Doomben 10,000 where he led at a fast tempo up front and just faded the last 50m.

He drops essentially to an easier classed race here, there doesn’t look to be a huge amount of speed on paper which should allow him to dictate up front on his own terms. This also suits the expected on-pace advantaged track pattern and at the current odds he looks a brilliant bet.

Value Bet - 11. Osmose ($9.00 / $2.45) - Race 5, 3YO+ National Classic

This French import Osmose who is trained by Waterhouse and Bott showed sharp improvement between runs when rising to 1600m. She found the line impressively last start without much room, she stays at the 1600m and now 3rd up peaking in condition.

What I like most about this event is that the race lacks speed entirely, she draws gate 1 with Clark in the saddle which suggest she will use the gate to land in the first 4. That is straight away a tactical advantage against some key rivals and places her with a brilliant chance.

And just like that – you've got three awesome tips. Isn’t that awesomely awesome? Yeah, we think so! We love that you love horse racing, and if you want to join other people who also think horse racing is the bees-knees, then look no further than Dabble’s Banter channel, dedicated solely to horse racing.
