Best Bet - 3. Amelia’s Jewel ($2.25) - Caulfield, Race 10
We have had plenty of arguments about this horse at Mock HQ. Nick has always thought she was good, Cashy hadn’t rated her until recently, but he still has his doubts. Despite this, both Mock have conceded she is by far and away the best chance in this race and potentially around the country. She broke the Moonee Valley track record without even being touched proving she has an unbelievable cruising speed, so let’s just see what she can do at full speed down the Caulfield Straight!
Next Best - 4. Steparty ($4.00) - Caulfield, Race 9
Militarize and Steparty to fight tooth and nail to the line and honestly we can see both these horses proressing onto a Cox Plate from here. Militarize is probably the horse we would want in a Cox Plate, but Steparty is the one we want here. He has the Caulfield experience over the NSW raider and the fact that he is way more conditioned to running the Victorian way. He is undefeated for a reason and that's because he knows where the line is and when to knuckle down under pressure. His last win was just phenomenal and blew us away, so we are happy to take Steparty.
Value Bet - 14. Our Empress Zoe ($12 / $3.80) - Caulfield, Race 1
Happy to take a stab at the $12 priced Our Empress Zoe in the first race of the card. She is attempting 3 wins on the trot after two smart wins at Pakenham and Moe respectively, that last one was by over 4 lengths, so she is most definitely flying. Damien Lane sticks and should give her every chance especially if she can cross them from that wide barrier. Expect her to be there or thereabouts in the finish so we will definitely be having a Dabble each-way on her.
