Best Bet - 3. Need Some Luck ($1.85) - Warwick Farm, Race 3
I have had a lot of time for the impressive colt Need Some Luck who has always shown above-average talent since his first ever trial. He was heavily supported last preparation in both runs without finding much luck. In his last start he ran into the now group and listed winning 3YO Griff.
He has been back to the trials this prep off the back of a good spell, again showing lovely tactical speed to take out the trial in style. He looked physically outstanding as well and has no doubt furnished into a strong 3YO. He maps to land in a lovely spot just behind what looks to be a hot tempo on paper, he has experience around the Warwick Farm track and still look to be great odds.
Next Best - 2. Fortains ($4.20) - Warwick Farm, Race 1
We get our first look at the new season 2YOs in the first midweek maiden event. The short priced favourited Sovereign Hill looks hard enough to beat off some solid trials but has come up extremely short. I love the set up here for the Waterhouse and Bott trained Fortians.
He has the added bonus of two trials under his belt which is key, in both trials he has looked professional in his work as well as showing strong tactical speed. He gets the inform Nash Rawiller on board from a lovely gate. I expect him to be a big firmer in the market prior to race time.
Value Bet - 9. Welcome Gypsy ($5.50 / $2.15) - Warwick Farm, Race 8
I love the progression of the John Thompson trained Welcome Gypsy. She has improved in every preparation and looks suited now in midweek grade. Her recent trials were both super, the latest was in smart company at Randwick displaying a clear pair of shoes to bolt in.
She maps to get the run of the race just behind the speed, this is a great position to be in on what looks to be an on pace dominated track today. John Thompson is one of the best first up trainers in Sydney and always has his horses ready to win first up. She is still solid enough odds and I expect her to be a firmer throughout the meeting.
And just like that – you've got three awesome tips. Isn’t that awesomely awesome? Yeah, we think so! We love that you love horse racing, and if you want to join other people who also think horse racing is the bees-knees, then look no further than Dabble’s Banter channel, dedicated solely to horse racing.
