Check out all our expert AFL tips for Round 9 below:

Game 1 – Richmond Tigers vs Geelong Cats, Friday 12th May, 7.20pm

At the start of the year, you would have assumed this game was going to be a cracker, funny how things work out. The Cats are ticking along nicely after a slow start while the Tigers can get their season going. Long term injuries to key players have hurt the Tigers, who people were saying could push top but now it looks like finals might even be a stretch.

Expert AFL Tip: To Get 25+ Disposals – Tom Stewart

Game 2 – West Coast Eagles vs Gold Coast Suns, Friday 12th May, 8.40pm

Last week the Eagles played some good footy, for a half but faded like they have many times this year. Gold Coast have had three wins but have not beaten anyone of note, and I see that tread continuing. Decimated by injury, the Eagles are getting games into their youth, as the long rebuild is in full swing.

Expert AFL Tip: Anytime Goal Scorer – David Swallow

Game 3 – Sydney Swans vs Freemantle Dockers, Saturday 13th May, 1.45pm

All the talk was about the tagging tactics by the Swans players, but we forget they threw away a great opportunity to win by their inaccuracy inside 50 and on goal. If they can sneak a few wins while they have a few out, it will set them up for later in the year. Freo beat up on the lowly Hawks at home last week but will find this task a lot harder. They will take some confidence out of last week, but consistency is the key.

Expert AFL Tip: Winning Margin – Swans 17+

Game 4 – North Melbourne Kangaroos vs Port Adelaide Power, Saturday 13th May, 2.10pm

Flying under the radar a bit the Power this year, 6-2 to start the season and should be 7-2 after this week sees them knocking on the door of the top 4. The Kangas of old are coming back after an initial honeymoon period with the new coach. The are getting plenty of the ball but decision making, and skills are just not up to scratch under pressure.

Expert AFL Tip: To Kick 3+ Goals – Jeremy Finlayson

Game 5 – Hawthorn Hawks vs Melbourne Demons, Saturday 13th May, 4.35pm

The Demons were pushed to the limit last week by the Suns which was a surprise, but the sign of a good side is to just get the job done. Should be easy pickings for the Dees and would not surprise if this game is a 100 pointer. Around this time of the year, players in teams like this are looking forward to the bye.

Expert AFL Tip: Winning Margin – Demons 73+

Game 6 – Brisbane Lions vs Essendon Bombers, Saturday 13th May, 7.25pm

Ticked a huge box last week winning away from home but, it was Carlton who have recently become very exposed. The fire power up front might be too hard for the under manned Bombers defence with Charlie Cameron leading the charge in rare form. Bombers have been solid all year but this game it’s a must their mids get on top if there any chance.

Expert AFL Tip: To Kick 2+ Goals – Eric Hipwood

Game 7 – Carlton Blues vs Western Bulldogs, Saturday 13th May, 7.30pm

The rumblings are getting louder and louder each week about the Blues. Losing 3 out of the last 4 with the win against Eagles have people questioning their finals credentials again already. On the other hand, the Bulldogs seem to be going from strength to strength with all their guns firing and Bont being on another level. Only query on the Dogs is their key backs against McKay and Curnow.

Expert AFL Tip: Total Points – Over 160.5

Game 8 – Adelaide Crows vs St Kilda Saints, Sunday 14th May, 1.10pm

These two teams have been better than expected so far this year with Saints grinding out wins all season long Ross the boss style. Is this game the one where the bubble bursts and the Saints not only lose but get opened up a bit. The Crows play a lot better at home and it is definitely beginning to become a little fortress for them so we will see if the Saints can withstand the pressure.

Expert AFL Tip: Winning Margin – Crows 38+

Game 9 – Collingwood Magpies vs Greater Western Sydney Giants, Sunday 14th May, 4.40pm

The Lord Heath Shaw Cup is up for grabs, first and probably last player to ever to play 150 games at both clubs. Toby was a huge late out last week and could have been the difference in a closely fought game against the Bulldogs. Pies did their thing last week and quality ball use and fast ball movement have most teams trying to figure out how to stop them. Leaning more to the Pies, but the Giants have been there abouts in most of their games this year.

Expert AFL Tip: Total Points – Under 170.5
