Check out all our expert AFL tips for Round 6 below:
Game 1 – Fremantle Dockers vs Western Bulldogs, Friday 21st April, 8.10pm
I bet the AFL, if they had the choice, they would reschedule this clash away from Friday night footy. Neither team lighting the world on fire, with the Dockers lucky to get over the line last week against a struggling Suns outfit. The Bulldogs flew straight to Perth from Adelaide for this clash which is smart, and I think all over the ground they have better quality players to beat Freo on the home deck.
Expert AFL Tip: To Kick 2+ Goals – Rory Lobb
Game 2 – Port Adelaide Power vs West Coast Eagles, Saturday 22nd April, 1.45pm
With the whole state on show, the Power rose to the occasion with a solid victory against the Bulldogs last week, but the talking point out of the game was JHF being booed. His last quarter was a standout and helped his team get the victory. Look for more midfield time in coming weeks as he is a class player. WC showed a bit but injuries and form make it hard to see a victory.
Expert AFL Tip: To Kick 3+ Goals – Jeremy Finlayson
Game 3 – Greater Western Sydney Giants vs Brisbane Lions, Saturday 22nd April, 4.35pm
The Giants have been there abouts the last 3 weeks and finally got reward for effort with a tough win over the Hawks on weekend. They have quality players in key positions, but the bottom 4-5 depth are the issue. The Lions are as dangerous up front as any team in the competition and think they will be a bit too hard for the Giants to handle.
Expert AFL Tip: To Get 25+ Disposals – Josh Dunkley
Game 4 – Geelong Cats vs Sydney Swans, Saturday 22nd April, 7.25pm
What a cracking Saturday night fixture we have here, Geelong finding their mojo again and the Swans humming along nicely. The Cats are building each week and apart from one hiccup have started this year as good as any team going around. I do not see the ground as an issue for the Swans and think that they will have the measure of the Cats who have only beaten the two bottom sides.
Expert AFL Tip: Total Points – Under 175.5
Game 5 – Hawthorn Hawks vs Adelaide Crows, Sunday 23rd April, 1.10pm
The Crows have their tails up and a massive win last week against Carlton sees them coming into this game red hot favourites. The Hawks are showing glimpses of good footy but with youth comes inconsistency. Crows will win but down in Tassie, it will not be all one-way traffic.
Expert AFL Tip: Winning Margin – Crows 24+
Game 6 – Carlton Blues vs St Kilda Saints, Sunday 23rd April, 3.20pm
The Saints lost no admirers last week against the Pies and could have nearly punched it. I say it every week but defensively they are sound, that alone will go a long way to helping the cause against the Blues. Carlton was treading water and a fired-up Crows outfit jumped them, and it was over very early. The doubters have come and I’m definitely one of them.
Expert AFL Tip: Total Points - Over 162.5
Game 7 – Gold Coast Suns vs North Melbourne Kangaroos, Sunday 23rd April, 4.40pm
Definitely not a match up for the ages but two teams who see this as a very winnable game. The Suns definitely have more to lose in this case and would have at the start of the year marked this down as a W, but how things have changed. The Kangas took it right up to Brisbane before a second half drop off, I expect a better show this week against lesser opposition.
Expert AFL Tip: Winning Margin – Suns 15+
Game 8 – Melbourne Demons vs Richmond Tigers, Monday 24th April, 7.20pm
Well, these two pre-season contenders are now both looking to bounce back after being put to the sword by hungrier opposition last week. The Tigers injury woes continue, while the Demons had an off day which the Bombers exposed. Can’t see the Tigers improving without getting some players back in the 22, while the Demons need to find a bit more consistency.
Expert AFL Tip: Winning Margin – Demons 34+
Game 9 – Collingwood Magpies vs Essendon Bombers, Tuesday 25th April, 3.20pm
What a scheduling dream having two of the biggest clubs sitting in the top 4 ready to roll for the Anzac Day clash. Both teams flying, moving the ball aggressively on offence and more so the Bombers have found a good defensive structure. Pies will have a few missing through injury and suspension which could be the difference in such a tight contest.
Expert AFL Tip: Total Points – Over 172.5
