Check out all our expert AFL tips for Round 5 below:
Game 1 – Adelaide Crows vs Carlton Blues, Thursday 13th April, 7.40pm
The state is on show and the Crows have the prime-time slot to match. The Blues are undefeated and have been getting the job done without playing outstanding (as good teams do) and the Crows have found some and look a dangerous prospect for this Thursday night clash. Carlton is a better team overall, but I do like the way Adelaide are playing now, it's exciting and aggressive. Mckay could be the swing vote.
Expert AFL Tip: Winning Margin – Blues 6+
Game 2 – Fremantle Dockers vs Gold Coast Suns, Friday 14th April, 5.10pm
I am off both these teams in a big way, I have tipped the Suns a few times but been let down and Fremantle have been the biggest disappointment of the year to date. Who do you tip when you dislike both sides and cannot with any confidence choose a team and no home ground advantage. Nightmare match up.
Expert AFL Tip: To Get 25+ Disposals – Luke Ryan
Game 3 – Richmond Tigers vs Sydney Swans, Friday 14th April, 8.10pm
I would have loved this match up if both teams were full strength, The Tigers are down their #1 ruck and key forward target both for extended periods of time. Swans could have pinched the four points last week only to fall short, they still need to find some cohesion up front and find the right spot for Heeney, Mills and Franklin.
Expert AFL Tip: Anytime Goal Scorer – Tim Taranto
Game 4 – Brisbane Lions vs North Melbourne Kangaroos, Saturday 15th April, 1.10pm
The Lions seem to be home ground heroes at the moment, they are an incredibly talented group but consistency week to week has been the issue. They are the better side here and I think they win the game but can see a youthful Kangaroos outfit pushing them in certain areas. But as you saw on the weekend, a firing key forward line up will stretch the Roos defence.
Expert AFL Tip: Winning Margin – Lions 32+
Game 5 – Essendon Bombers vs Melbourne Demons, Saturday 15th April, 4.10pm
You can only beat the people you come up against which is what the Bombers have done but this will test them. Huge test and although the Dees will have travelled twice in two weeks (WA and SA), I think they have the Bombers measure, a quality outfit with a very well drilled defence will make life hard for their opponents.
Expert AFL Tip: To Get 20+ Disposals – Brodie Grundy
Game 6 – Port Adelaide Power vs Western Bulldogs, Saturday 15th April, 7.50pm
What an amazing win last weekend for the Power and an under the pump coach. The Bulldogs also had a tough fought win over the Tigers, so this is set up to be a cracking game. Port one of two home teams this weekend looking for back-to-back and I feel would take a huge amount of confidence away from that away win.
Expert AFL Tip: Winning Margin – Power 15+
Game 7 – Geelong Cats vs West Coast Eagles, Sunday 16th April, 1.10pm
The Cats got an easy kill Easter Monday, downing the Hawks with 30min of devastating footy, I'd say that alone would be enough to beat an injury and form riddled Eagles side. I stated at the start of the season Jeremy Cameron could be the first person in a long, long time to win the Coleman and the Brownlow in the same year. This game could definitely help that cause.
Expert AFL Tip: To Kick 4+ Goals – Tom Hawkins
Game 8 – Greater Western Sydney vs Hawthorn Hawks, Sunday 16th April, 3.20pm
It's no guarantee but finally I think after two weeks of playing very well and not getting the chocolates, the Giants are a massive chance to notch their second win. The Hawks are young and they are inconsistent week to week, quarter to quarter, it happens and will continue too throughout the year. Giants bring the effort shown in the last two weeks, they win.
Expert AFL Tip: To Kick 3+ Goals – Toby Greene
Game 9 – Collingwood Magpies vs St Kilda Saints, Sunday 16th April, 4.50pm
Who would have thought that this match up would be as anticipated as it has turned out being. 1st vs 5th with only one loss between both sides. The final game of Gather Round could be the best of the lot. Saints' defence has been elite and the Pies pride themselves on taking the game on at all costs. Offence vs defence, which will reign supreme?
Expert AFL Tip: Total Score – Over 160.5
