Check out all our expert AFL tips for Round 15 below:
Game 1 – Geelong Cats vs Melbourne Demons, Thursday 22nd June, 7.20pm
Thursday night footy is back down the highway and what a tough game to tip. Although the Cats are just treading water, they are at home. The Dees, I feel like turned the corner last week beating the Pies before a much-needed rest. Oliver to return and the dominate ruck duo of Gawn and Grundy getting first use I can see them setting themselves up for a big tilt at top four and charge towards a Grand Final.
Game 2 – St Kilda Saints vs Brisbane Lions, Friday 23rd June, 7.50pm
This is a genuine coin flip, but I still think will be a good game. Can't trust the Lions away from home and I think the Saints haven't been going that well of late and I feel teams have worked them out. There is more pressure or eyes on how the Lions go then the Saints and its pretty simple, the leaders need to stand up and make a stand.
Game 3 – Sydney Swans vs West Coast Eagles, Saturday 24th June, 4.35pm
Back in the day a matchup between these two teams was always a ripping clash, but unfortunately the last few years they have been far from it. Swans will win and I'd say fairly comfortably, which is very much needed but still genuinely a 50/50 chance to play Finals. Probably a good side for a few players to find some form and return from injury as the Eagles, as hard as it is to say about a powerhouse club, are irrelevant.
Game 4 – Fremantle Dockers vs Essendon Bombers, Saturday 24th June, 7.25pm
The surprise packet of 2022 in the Dockers, up against the surprise of 2023. As interesting a contest as this may be, you have a team which has been ultra consistent leading to an 8-5 record and the other team super inconsistent at 6-7 and a bit off the mark. At home Fremantle are a different beast but in the same breath we have an Essendon team that have no fear.
Game 5 – Collingwood Magpies vs Adelaide Crows, Sunday 25th June, 1.10pm
After a classic game earlier in the year where the Crows pretty much threw away four points, have they learnt from the mistakes made that day. Away from home has been an issue for the Crows but one of the few times they head to the G surely lift for the occasion against the league leaders. They say teams off a bye struggle, but I can definitely see this Pies team bucking the trend.
Game 6 – Gold Coast Suns vs Hawthorn Hawks, Sunday 25th June, 4.40pm
If and obviously it was a big if (and didn’t actually happen), but if the Suns found a way to beat the Blues at the G, a debut final appearance would be on the horizon. It didn’t happen so now it’s a matter of winning all home games and pinching a few away. Tough task. The Hawks are slowly making inroads, and from the start of year been told will need patience in this rebuild. Winning definitely speeds up the process of youth.
